Leigh Ann Tyson grew up in California in the San Francisco Bay Area.  One day when she was about ten years old, she went with her family to the top of Mt. Diablo or Devil Mountain.  Nothing unusual happened while they had their picnic at the top, but on the way back down the mountain her father gasped, stopped the car and said, “Look at THAT!”
           
There were tons of tarantulas crawling down the hillside and over the road.  Her family got out of the car, all except for her mother, and they scooped one up in a glass jar.  It was her brother who named him Harry.
           
Leigh Ann lives in Connecticut now and writes children’s books.  She tries to go on as many adventures as she can.  You never know what will just stop you in your tracks and gasp and say, “Look at THAT!”
