Roseberry’s Great Escape
By Kate Duke
Dutton Juvenile, 1990
The adventurous pig Roseberry decides to trade his wandering ways for the ease of life in a planned community. Unfortunately, the group he wants to join is a flock of pampered sheep. The shepherd who tends his flock so assiduously – even knitting sweaters for them to ward off post-shearing chills — has a very different view of the usefulness of a succulent, non-wool-bearing porker. Roseberry has to make a drastic alteration in his plans, and in the process discovers virtues in his old life that he had taken for granted.
