The Rains Are Coming is a story about an American girl whose family had moved to a small village in Zaire (now the Congo). Ever since their arrival the sky had been gray. Aimee kept expecting rain, but it never came.
Today was Aimee’s birthday. The picnic table was set, and Aimee ran through the village to get her friends. But as she ran, small clouds moved across the sky, and wherever she went, she heard “Zimula zeti kwiza.” And indeed the rains were coming. Just in time, the party moved indoors, and the rains came pouring down.
